Along the edge of the parking lot, overlooking that pond, are a number of seedling hawthorns (<em>Crataegus<\/em> hybrids). These are most likely a mix of the cultivated hawthorns that are fairly common in the area but I happen to know that these were naturally occurring seedlings as I have watched them grow from the time the area was cleared and the pond was built. They have white flowers and their fruits are varying in color.
