I&#8217;m sure there will be days when I won&#8217;t want to walk over there (if it&#8217;s raining, for instance) but so far we&#8217;ve had good enough weather that I&#8217;ve gone each day. Some days I&#8217;ve brought my camera with me and taken a little time on the way back to get some pictures. Today was such a day. Most trees are still in their summer greens but a few have begun the process of changing to their brief autumn finery. This sassafras tree (<em>Sassafras albidum<\/em>) is such a one. Because September was so dry, we&#8217;re expecting a less colorful fall this year.
