class=\"clear-both\"><\/div>\n<p>I went on a short outing this afternoon to the Agricultural Farm Park today and spent a little time wandering around the Master Gardener&#8217;s display garden. Mostly I photographed insects (and a few flowers). It was a pretty productive outing as far as insect photos go.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Danaus plexippus<\/em> (Monarch) Caterpillar<\/li>\n<li><em>Murgantia histrionica<\/em> (Harlequin Bug)<\/li>\n<li><em>Papilio polyxenes asterius<\/em> (Black Swallowtail)<\/li>\n<li><em>Euptoieta claudia<\/em> (Variegated Fritillary)<\/li>\n<li><em>Allograpta obliqua<\/em> (Common Oblique Syrphid)<\/li>\n<li><em>Diabrotica undecimpunctata<\/em> (Spotted Cucumber Beetle)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I\u2019m particularly happy with the oblique syrphid fly, as that\u2019s the first one I\u2019ve photographed. The black swallowtail is one we don\u2019t see nearly as often as the eastern tiger swallowtail. I\u2019ve seen harlequin bugs on occasion but not all that often.
