It was still warm and quite humid, so I ended up pretty much drenched in sweat, but it doesn&#8217;t take a lot for me to get that way. We happened to see this American Toad (<em>Anaxyrus americanus<\/em>) on the trail. It&#8217;s one of only two species of toad native to our area, so identification isn&#8217;t all that difficult. He&#8217;s a handsome fellow, don&#8217;t you think? Don&#8217;t let the frown fool you.
