It was a beautiful, sunny (and almost hot) day. I took pictures of a few things along the way, including this one of winged sumac (<em>Rhus copallinum<\/em>), also known as shining, dwarf, or flameleaf sumac. It&#8217;s a weed plant native to the area and there is quite a bit of it growing on the empty lot next to my office, especially around the edges. This time of year the leaves turn the most remarkable, deep burgundy fading to a bright, scarlet around the edges.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cathy and I went for a walk around the block at work today.
