Along with our good friend, Yvette, we went to the Jug Bay Natural Area in Patuxent River Park today. When I put Jug Bay into my GPS to get there, I didn’t pay close attention and we were taken to the Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary, which was closed. Although it was less than a mile, as the crow flies to where we wanted to go, it was over 13 miles by road. There is a viewing platform and from that I was able to get a few nice photos of this turkey vulture (Cathartes aura) on a large stump. We heard quite a few other birds and also enjoyed a walk along the shore, across a marsh, and through the woods. It was quite warm, so we really enjoyed the air conditioning in the visitor center.
